What Australian Women Want
December 3rd 2007 03:11
Can you believe it’s nearly 2008? It feels to me like the turn of the century has only just happened, and yet I’ve experienced so much since that time. Namely, for the purpose of this article, in the field of “dating” – specifically, relationships with men, though we don’t really ‘date’ the same way as Americans do… in my experience Aussies are more likely just to ‘hook up’.
Anyway, it occurred to me that there are very few websites on the Internet that are dedicated to love and hookups in Australia. Most are American, totally misleading at worst, and cheesy at best. So why not, as a single Aussie chick in her mid-twenties, put my opinion out there? Maybe it will help someone in some way. I hope it does.
So what do Australian women want? They want roughly the same things that Aussie guys want – a fulfilling job, a busy social life, a close network of friends and a fun hobby or two. They want the freedom to be able to do and say what they want, and the money to go and stay where they want. They want companionship. And of course, they want affection. But that’s where the dichotomy begins - while the majority of Aussie women would, deep down, prefer to have a close, loving relationship with a man, Australian men are far more laidback when it comes to relationships and many prefer a one night stand or a brief fling to a full-blown, boyfriend-and-girlfriend type of affair. This is, of course, a generalisation, but it is something I’ve observed in recent years and appears to be a growing trend. At the same time, more and more women are embracing their sexuality and embarking on brief, often alcohol-fuelled trysts with men – it all becomes confusing, the lines become blurred, and we start to wonder if the opposite sex is anywhere near being on the same wavelength as us.
But for those men who are looking for a relationship, there are plenty of ways to attract and approach the woman of your dreams, and the answers are at your fingertips. Learning about how a woman’s mind works is essential, and there are plenty of resources on the Internet (this being one of them) available to you. If you’ve never heard of David De Angelo, this is the time to google his name. His techniques when it comes to attracting and approaching women are, yes cheesy, but they work. Not treating a woman like she’s a queen, and relating to her on a fun, playful level are tantamount when it comes to dealing with young Aussie women. We don’t want to be taken seriously all the time. We want to be shown a good time from someone who cares for us, on a level beyond merely wanting to get into our pants. We no longer need someone to take care of us financially as we can do that ourselves, we just want someone to have fun with, feel close to, and yes, share affection with.
So that is, in my humble opinion, what Aussie women want, and being a 25-year-old female Sydneysider myself, I feel that I have some authority on the subject. I’ll be posting more blogs soon – so let me know what you think.
