Australian Chick - by Journeywoman

What Aussie girls want in a boyfriend

January 23rd 2008 10:17
Australian girls are most unlike the representations of women that you find on the Internet, we’re an entirely unique breed. Growing up in a multicultural society has made us open-minded, and we have an in-built toughness about us as well, a boyish quality – while most of the time remaining sweet and feminine. Most of us couldn’t give a shit about things like a man owning an expensive car, as we’re self-sufficient enough to afford one for ourselves and we’ve never had to live in poverty either. All but the most high-maintenance of us love being in the outdoors, and doing the same things you do, like surfing, skiing and camping. We’re great, what else can I say? No bias at all…

But what do Aussie girls want in a boyfriend? It basically boils down to a combination of respect, chemistry and friendship. She needs to know, from your actions and words, whether you respect her, otherwise she’ll have a hard time trusting you and may even decide that she doesn’t like you that much. Chemistry is something you have no control over – unless you believe all the hype about synthetic pheromones – most of the time, you either have it or you don’t. Friendship is something that should already exist, whether she’s been a friend or acquaintance for a while, or you’ve just met her, you need to make sure that you get along with each other and have plenty to say. Even if she isn’t into you in that way, a friendship with an Aussie woman is a valuable thing.

Aussie girls want a guy that they can connect with physically, emotionally and intellectually. The brain comes first; if a guy is not intelligent enough for her to have a meaningful conversation with, her attraction to him will fade, regardless of other factors like his looks. It’s important to an Aussie girl to be able to converse freely on the same level, so if you’re not up to scratch there she might start looking elsewhere. The same applies if you’re more intelligent than her, she will soon tire of everything you say going over her head.

Emotionally, you want to be open with her. Let her know what you’re thinking and feeling. Physically, if you can make her feel completely secure in your presence whilst still being able to turn her on, the physical favours will come back to you tenfold. Girls want a man they can be in touch with through all of their senses. Some will compromise on some of these factors and be with a man who doesn’t suit her perfectly, but many are quite fussy in what they want in a man, and for some, if the chemistry isn’t there then it just isn’t happening.

Obviously, all girls are different, and their wants and desires will vary, but I hope I’ve given you some insight into how Aussie girls view the world, and how you can use this knowledge to your romantic advantage. Let me know what you think.

Define chemistry JW, it's been kicking the tush of every red blooded fella I know and why is it so capricious in nature? Raven

Cute, Pat.

Raven, chemistry is a most ethereal thing... you get butterflies and it seems like, for a split second, you and he are the only two in the room. There are some people you just feel drawn to, and I blame it on pheromones, partly. It's pretty rare for a woman to feel chemistry with a man, hence the capricious nature, and why it is deemed so important by many women. It's a tough one to explain, but when you feel it, you definitely know about it!
